Tove W.

Creating has always been an important part of my life. Over the years I have explored different creative forms and materials, but clay has somehow always been there along the way, even though for long periods it had to take a back seat to other things.

A few years ago I took a wheel-throwing course. What was originally meant as a way to rediscover ceramics quickly grew into something more. I was hooked.

There is something about clay that captivates me. Getting to work with my hands, feel the material and watch something take shape, step by step. I like that the process can be both quick and slow at the same time – that the clay goes through several different stages before it reaches its finished form and gets its unique expression and colour. Nothing turns out quite like anything else, and not everything needs to be perfect or decided from the start. I love that!

In everyday life I work as a special needs teacher, a job I really enjoy and that demands presence, commitment and energy. In ceramics I find a place where I can let go of other thoughts for a while. It gives me both rest and fresh energy. I wish everyone could have a place like ceramics is for me.
