Weekend course where you get to try both turning and building by hand.
Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November 10:00 - 15:00
Glazing event three weeks later on Sunday 1st December 16:30-18:00
Teacher: Johanna Bülow
During this weekend course, you get to both turn and build by hand through the various construction techniques of curling, rolling and thumbing.
Weekend course is a good start for those who want to try turning or sculpting
It is perfectly fine to be a beginner, or to have prior knowledge that you want to develop further.
The course fee includes 3 kg of clay, after that you can buy more clay for SEK 60 per kg. All our glazes/ engobes are included and we fire what you have created for you so that after completing the course you can go home with your ceramics.
There will be a break for lunch, bring your own lunch box and heat it in the microwave or buy something from one of the various restaurants in the area. We offer coffee and tea.
Day 1 – Introduction and demonstration by the teacher in twisting and the various techniques of rolling, rolling and thumbing, which you then get to test yourself with the guidance of the teacher throughout the day.
Day 2 – The teacher goes through steps that can be done when the items have dried overnight and are leather-hard. Like trimming the turned objects on the turning wheel, making a foot ring, putting ears on mugs or using engobe to create patterns and colors in the clay.
Then it's perfectly fine to continue practicing (as these won't be able to dry overnight) or sculpting in any of the techniques you prefer. The possibilities in sculpting are endless.
After the weekend course is finished, everyone's creations must dry, and then be fired before they can be glazed. Therefore, the glazing time is two weeks later and must then be fired in the oven again. After that, you can pick up your finished works about 2 weeks after that.
