My name is Sophie and I am a visual artist. My paintings convey an outer as well as an inner landscape, where shapes and colours describe different moods. I already knew my path at the age of six.

My first encounter with clay was as a young student at Nyckelviksskolan. Then followed many years as a mother, art teacher and artist. It was only at a ceramics course two years ago that I got to feel the clay again – a love affair that left me wanting more and led me to KERAMIKEN on Södermalm.

Working with clay is like sewing, cooking or playing the piano. I lose track of time and space and shape the material with feeling and respect. A collaboration full of pleasure and surprises.

Nature is my source of inspiration – the timeless beauty of leaves and flowers and their perfect forms. My wish is to unite art and craft, to make small works of art out of everyday objects.
