Evening ceramics course for all levels

Monday evenings 18:00–21:00 – 7 sessions of 3 hours, starting 17 August 2026
Break in week 40 – Monday 28 September – for bisque firing. The last session is therefore Monday 5 October.

Teacher: Lena Mäcs

The evening ceramics course suits both beginners and those who have taken a course before and want to develop further. In this course you get to throw on the wheel and also try different hand-building techniques such as coiling, slab building and pinching.

The course fee includes 3 kg of clay; after that you can buy more clay for SEK 70 per kg. All our glazes and colour slips are included, and we fire what you make, so once the course is finished you can take home pieces you made yourself.
Every participant has their own pottery wheel throughout the course.

Coffee and tea are on us.

During the course the teacher will give demonstrations of throwing and trimming, as well as individual guidance. On the evening course you can try throwing different kinds of pieces such as teacups, candle holders and bowls, and the teacher will go through the techniques for each.

Session 1 – Introduction to wheel throwing, centring on the wheel, and studio etiquette.
Session 2 – Trimming, decorating, pulling and attaching handles, and signing. Decorating with underglazes and colour slips.
Sessions 3–5 – Practising all of these steps, in the group and with individual guidance. Also an introduction to coiling, slab building and pinching, if you would like to try hand-building instead of throwing. Reclaiming clay.
Session 6 – Practice throwing (these pieces can’t be trimmed, since the next session is the glazing session), continued hand-building, trimming, decorating and signing.
Session 7 – Glazing your pieces
About 4–6 weeks after the course ends, you can collect your finished, fired pieces.

The minimum age for our courses is 16 without a parent, or 14 if accompanied by a parent.
